So you’re looking at hosting an event but feel overwhelmed by how much it’s going to cost you. Here is pt. II on 5 ways you can reduce the cost of your event without compromising on style.

1. SHARE YOUR VENDORS

   See if those hosting an event the day before or after want to share the cost of a specific vendor. It could be your DJ, florals, prop hire etc. This will essentially cut the cost of your fees, such as travel and labour, in half.

2. AVOID PRINTED SAVE THE DATES

   Printed save the dates are an unnecessary cost. Tell your guests ahead of time in person or over a message. The only print-out your guests need is the official invitation.

3. SIGNATURE DRINKS

   Avoid the costs associated with a full bar and opt for 1 or 2 signature cocktails to be served alongside beer and wine. This will prevent guests from driving up the bar tab by drinking top shelf alcohol.

4. DECORATE KEY AREAS

   When working with a space that isn’t very aesthetic, focus on transforming a few key areas rather than spreading your styling budget thin. Impactful set ups will draw the attention away from unappealing areas.

5. CONTACT A LOCAL UNIVERSITY

   Many students enrolled in creative industries, like design or music, will jump at the chance to showcase their work, build their portfolio, and earn some money. The advantage of this approach is that their rates are significantly more affordable than those who are fully qualified.
