9 THINGS YOUR GUESTS DON’T CARE ABOUT
We all want to make sure our guests have the time of their lives at our event, but don’t get too wrapped up in planning. Here are 9 things your guests don’t care about.
FANCY INVITATIONS
No matter how pretty your invite is, the only people who will keep it are some of your family members and maybe a few close friends. Print a select few for these people and DIY the rest or create a wedding website.
FAVOURS/BONBONNIERE
Having worked in the industry for years, I can tell you that I’ve never been to an event where all the party favours have been taken. Often guests forget or they aren’t interested.
Inviting them to your wedding, where you’ll be covering their food, drink and entertainment for the night is gift enough.
PLACE CARDS
People don’t need fancy custom acrylic place cards. Consider a large seating chart at reception entry and paper place cards on the tables.
CAKE
Another throw away at the end of an event - cake. Your guests don’t care that you have a 2 tier cake or a 20 tier cake. Save yourself time and money and have a sheet cake in the back. Or better yet, skip it all together. Consider alternatives such as champagne towers, dessert bars, or a gelato cart.
SILVERWARE & GLASSWARE
Your guests aren’t going to notice if you use the most affordable silverware and glassware for your event. Besides if you use the fancy stuff, you’ll probably find that a few quests take it home with them and your vendor may send you a bill for missing items.
LINENS
Your guests aren’t going to notice whether you use pure silk or a poly blend. Opt for the affordable linens to save money.
WHETHER YOUR FIRST DANCE ISN’T CHOREOGRAPHED
No one has ever watched a first dance and thought ‘they should have had dance lessons’. There is nothing wrong with a sway and it takes the pressure off remembering a routine.
TOP SHELF ALCOHOL
No one is going to know whether you use Smirnoff or Belvedere. The same can be said for nearly all wines. Save yourself the money and opt for the affordable alternatives.
WHETHER YOU GET CHANGED INTO COMFORTABLE CLOTHING
You could wear crocs under your dress after your ceremony and every woman in that room wearing heels isn’t going to be judging, she’s going to wish she brought flats too. The day is about you - if you aren’t comfortable, you’re not going to fully enjoy yourself.
